We provide the full range of NHS treatments at our Jesmond and Stanley practices.
You’re entitled to any NHS treatment which you need to maintain your dental health.
Your dentist will give you a treatment plan after your dental health assessment, which will show you what dental treatment you require, and the costs involved.
There are three standard charges for a course of NHS dental treatment, depending on the treatment needed.
From 1 April 2017:
Band 1 – £20.60 (examination, diagnosis, advice on how to prevent future problems)
Band 2 – £56.30 (Band 1 above plus fillings, root canal work and extractions)
Band 3 – £244.30 (Bands 1 and 2 above plus crowns, dentures and bridges)
These charges are also displayed in our waiting rooms.
We may offer to carry out part of the work on your treatment plan privately if it is not available on the NHS.
Your dentist will be able to explain which treatments are not available on the NHS.
You are entitled to receive free NHS dental care if:
- you are under 18
- you are under 19 and in full time education
- you are pregnant
- you have given birth in the last twelve months
- you are receiving Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance or the guarantee credit part of Pension Credit
Also, some people on a low income, including those receiving tax credits, can receive free or reduced cost NHS dental care.
