DENTAL IMPLANTS

dentist newcastle | Honour Health

We provide dental implants in Newcastle, Ponteland and Stanley as the gold standard treatment to replace failing or missing teeth. When an implant is in position, it is both indistinguishable from and as comfortable as your existing teeth.

Dental implants can fill a single tooth gap, multiple teeth or replace a complete set of teeth.

We have a dedicated dental implant suite and 3D imaging technology in Newcastle, to provide the most accurate placement of dental implants. This imaging in our Newcastle clinic provides greater detail of the shape of the jaw, allowing precise measurements to be taken for pre-operative planning.

Your dental implants:

  • will look, feel and function as normal teeth
  • allow you to eat and drink anything
  • can be brushed and cared for as normal teeth
  • will achieve dramatic results. There will be no gaps, no loose or ill-fitting dentures – just an attractive smile line

The dental implant treatment process

Dental implant treatment has two stages.

Firstly, the dental implant is placed in the jaw. Each dental implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth and is carefully screwed into the prepared site. The dental implant then integrates with the surrounding bone.

Secondly, when the jaw has healed (which takes several months), permanent crowns or bridges can be fixed to the dental implant, or dentures can be attached in a way that allows them to be removed for cleaning.

3D Imaging for dental implants in Newcastle

Our Newcastle practice was the first in the north of England to offer patients three dimensional X-rays, and has one of the most accurate dental implant diagnostic tools in the North East.

The Kodak 9000 3D Extraoral Imaging System is at the forefront of the dental industry and gives dentists the ability to see any cross section of the tooth or jaw, rather than just the vertical height which is the case with 2D X-rays.

The system, based at our Newcastle clinic, is particularly useful for dental implants, as we are able to see whether the patient has enough bone for the implant to be fitted into. Before this technology, dentists would have to make an incision into the gum to find out such information.

Rather than send patients for a CT scan at the hospital, we can now offer this service in the practice, reducing waiting times, using a much lower radiation dose and a three dimensional X-ray that focuses solely on the mouth.

The system is so advanced that we have developed as a referral centre for other dentists and hospitals in the region that have patients needing a more precise X-ray.
